You have finished the topic Mass, Capacity and Temperature! For today, I would like you to have a go at applying some of these skills practically. I have listed some ideas below!
- Using measuring jugs – parents you could give the children a measurement (eg. 200ml) and they have to fill the measuring jug to that level. Similarly, you could fill the measuring jug to certain level and the children have to read the measurement (this will give them good practice at working out missing measures)
- Using scales – weigh some different objects around the house (children can round to the nearest 100g to make this easier).
- Estimating – select some objects from around the house. Can they order them from lightest to heaviest? They could then check using scales! This would work for capacity too – they could predict which containers hold the most liquid.
- Baking or cooking – practicing weighing and measuring with a yummy reward at the end!
