Remote Learning

Kennall Vale Remote Learning Policy

At Kennall Vale, we have been developing our Remote Learning offer. Below, is the necessary information regarding Remote Learning at this point in time. The various scenarios that lead to Remote Learning taking place are as follows:

Scenario A: A child develops symptoms and must isolate and access a COVID test (24-72 hours)

Scenario B: A bubble closes due to a pupil receiving a positive test (14 days)

Scenario C: A child must isolate for 14 days due to a household member developing symptoms/receives a positive test (24 hours – 14 days)

What education will your child access in any of the above scenarios?

Scenario A: A child develops symptoms and must isolate and access a COVID test (24-72 hours)

– We have prepared physical learning packs that can be given to a child immediately in the event they (or a household member) develops symptoms. This learning pack will include age appropriate Reading, Writing, Maths and Topic learning opportunities. The pack aims to provide your child with 3 days of learning (the time it may take for a COVID test be administered and result returned).

– These learning packs will be updated regularly by teachers so that they reflect the learning taking place in the classroom.

– If the test returns positive, the child will access learning as stated in Scenario B, along with their peers.

If your child is feeling unwell, they are not expected to complete any work; the primary focus would be the recovery and wellbeing of your child, as with the onset of any illness.

Scenario B: A bubble closes due to a pupil receiving a positive test (14 days).

– All children from the specified bubble will access learning from home, as directed by the class teacher.

– A weekly timetable will be shared at the beginning of each week.

– Learning will be shared with children by 0900, daily, on Tapestry or Class Dojo.

– Teachers will plan learning to ensure progression and the acquisition of new knowledge and skills as much as possible, whilst consolidating prior learning where necessary.

– Teachers will not be delivering live lessons via a video link at this moment in time.

– Teachers will sign post children to the correct resources in the daily Tapestry/Dojo message.

– Teachers may record an introduction or demonstration for a lesson if required.

– Children are expected to upload/share learning, daily, with the class teacher on Tapestry/Dojo; this can be a photograph or a recording. Work submitted by 1:00pm will receive feedback that day.

– Teachers and Teaching Assistants will respond to work submitted, daily.

– Teachers/Teaching Assistants may telephone families to support learning and check on wellbeing.

– Children are expected to engage in the learning, daily.

– If a child is poorly, the parent is expected to notify the school office so the teacher can be made aware.

We will be providing every child with a work book and resources where necessary, to support their learning at home.

Scenario C: An individual child must isolate for 14 days due to a household member developing symptoms/receives a positive test (24 hours – 14 days).

– Initially, the child will receive learning in line with Scenario A.

– If the absence goes beyond 72 hours, the class teacher will endeavour to provide your child, via Tapestry/Class Dojo, with the necessary learning to keep pace with their classmates, following the procedures set out in Scenario B.

Learning will be shared and facilitated online. Please make the school aware if you do not have the appropriate ICT infrastructure to access Tapestry/Class Dojo at home so we can discuss your needs. Access to a tablet, computer or laptop will be required to access the daily learning.

Our Remote Learning offer is a new and untested aspect of our school’s curriculum. It will continue to be monitored and reviewed in order to develop strong school-wide practice and promote positive outcomes for all children. This letter outlines the structure and likely scenarios for Remote Learning and class teachers will provide greater detail on class-specific routines and practices. Please do get in touch if you have any questions.
